During the New York International Auto Show, MINI USA has company news and North American vehicle debuts worth checking out this week. Below is a short summary of the news MINI is announcing and the vehicles that will be featured:

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman will make its North American debut at the New York Auto Show. With the updated John Cooper Works powertrain that now includes Valvetronic and the first-ever optional automatic transmission in a John Cooper Works vehicle, this Countryman will prove to be an impressively efficient choice for anyone looking for an equal balance of excitement and practicality.

In addition to the John Cooper Works Countryman, three special-edition models – MINI Convertible Highgate, MINI Bayswater and MINI Baker Street will all make their first public appearance in North America.
Looking ahead, MINI has announced that the company will build a MINI GP II, with the world debut of the highest performing MINI event scheduled to take place during MINI United next month at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France May 11-13. Additional details and specifications to be announced at a later date.

MINI USA also announced that the U.S. Paralympic Team will be the charitable partner for MINI TAKES THE STATES 2012, with a minimum of $10,000 earmarked to support the Paralympic athletes who will compete in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London as well as 2016 hopefuls as they train. Paralympic athlete, Michael Johnston will participate in MTTS in July as a spokesperson for the partnership.

MINI Roadster Peepshow Spectacular… MINI USA has taken the meaning of ‘reveal’ for the MINI Roadster market launch to a new level with an interactive Peepshow storefront display in the pedestrian area located at Hollywood Boulevard and N Sycamore in Los Angeles.
The “amphibious” MINI Yachtsman sailed onto the scene April 1, and will be on display at the MINI stand for the duration of the New York Auto Show.
