Opened in 1863, the Arrest Hotel in the city of Roermond, the Netherlands, was a former correctional facility containing 150 holding cells. Now, it is one of the country’s most intriguing new luxury hotels.
As part of the complete renovation of the prison, the RB 500 roller shade operating system from Hunter Douglas Contract, was installed at the windows to compliment the new, modernized interior. Here is a view of the new dining room.
The RB 500 system can be operated via a chain, crank or motors and allows for control of how much natural light enters an interior. Here, the roller shades are half open allowing for views, while offering interior comfort.
The combination of RB 500 and roller shade fabric can be customized to match the overall design aesthetic. In this setting, the white colored roller shade creates a clean look and encourages relaxation. The 150 holding cells were converted into 36 rooms and seven suites.
The architect, Van der Valk Design, created a striking contrast between the Hunter Douglas Contract roller shades and accent pieces in the room, including the bedding and pillows.
