Ébano Bistró & Bar | Arquitectura en Proceso

Ébano Bistró & Bar by Mexican architect Arquitectura en Proceso aimed to transform a building that was created under the design of a fast food franchise look, into a bistro. This project is situated in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, a small town located on the north of Mexico. Agricultural, livestock, and desert as main characteristics of the region.

The exterior transformation of the building was marked by the existing roof which was in very poor condition so it was necessary to build a new cover in order to affect as minimum as possible the existing steel structure of the building and create a new image to identify the new business. The building was wrapped on a micro-perforated skin which allows a glimpse of the silhouette of the old building and creates a double skin to cover the intense heat of the area and at the same time generates a vestibular access through this thin skin of aluminum.

Working under the idea of the region emerges from inside the conceptualization of the project, a wooden ceiling which creates a continuity on the walls and floors, which in turn bifurcates to form the space of the bar to serve the restaurant on one side and the terrace on the other. This ceiling is the main attraction of the project, which reveals the topography of movement in the desert region and refers to the name of the restaurant in the dark color of its timber.

The work space is very simple, is developed in a simple and functional route separating the spaces in public areas and services, creating a two-way travel on a single axis running from the kitchen to the terrace through the areas of restaurant and bar. Leaving aside the furniture arrangement which allows an easy and affordable distribution to give a fast and efficient service to customers.
