since nearly three decades the American architect Steven Holl develops archaic compositions of sculptural shapes. The characteristic impression of his projects derives not only from how he handles volumes, but also from the poetics of light and shadow, color and material, the changing daytime and the times of the year.
The new Daeyang Gallery in Seoul, Korea, and the appendent house captivate visitors sensations with its calm though strong presence. Steven Holl’s inspiration for the building formation was, for the main part, music.
The project has already won numerous awards like the “Annual Design Review Award”, the “Emirates Glass Leaf Awards 2012”, the “AIA NY Honor Award”, USA, 2013 and his most recent “A+ Award 2013”.
