Concept for environmentally sustainable and mobile work spaces of the future
With the premiere of the cordless energy storage unit Yill during the Milan Design Week 2011, Berlin based renewable energy company Younicos will show its vision of the environmentally sustainable and mobile working environment of the future. From April 12 to 17, architects, interior architects, designers and the public are invited to visit the Younicos garage and to experience firsthand how storage units and thus green energy can be integrated in modern buildings. Conceived by Werner Aisslinger, a designer from Berlin, Yill is a white monowheel with the look and feel of a contemporary design object and real practical benefits: it can autonmously supply a modern workstation with energy for two to three days.
Yill is a small mobile energy storage unit, which can supply modern workstations with 300 Watts of electricity without cords or cables through its rechargeable lithium titanium batteries. Yill allows those, who generate their own electricity from renewable resources, to completely disconnect from traditional power grids even during days without a ray of sunlight. But even when charged by plugging to traditional energy sources, Yill supports the transformation towards a sustainable energy economy. It effortlessly integrates awareness of sustainability into everyday office life and provides space for more renewable energies by storing surplus power.
