Rotterdam-based design studio Reinier de Jong Architecture & Design recently has created the DEX desk.
DEX is a refined, compact en minimalist desk that fits anywhere at home. The frame consists of two horizontal cross shapes of solid wooden laths and a drawer unit. The frame has a minimal presence round the seat for optimal comfort. The drawer unit has two or three drawers. They can be pulled out entirely to provide a place for a printer which one can control from the seat.
The top is a panel of only 12 mm consisting of alternating layers of high pressure laminate and aluminium. These type of panels are usually applied in laboratory table tops. They are durable, easy to maintain and structurally very strong.
The desk top of DEX comes in different dimensions, its length ranging from 1,20 m to 1,60 m and its width from 0,60 m to 0,80 m. The dimensions of the drawer unit relate to the choice of the top dimensions.
DEX is only for sale at Reinier de Jong Design.
