GREAT DESIGN’s first project is the lamp SUNSET, designed by Alban Le Henry, in a limited edition of 100 signed and numbered pieces.
SUNSET is a semi-handmade lamp in resin and thermoformed methacrylate, belonging to a larger family of lightings that will be developed in various versions and materials.

The lamp has a truncated spherical shell that produces indirect light and creates an opalescent effect with its slight transparency.
SUNSET is an object with great evocative power. It reproduces the horizon line and the luminous effect of a crepuscular light.

+ About Alban Le Henry
Alban Le Henry studied design at ENSCI (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle)-Les Ateliers in Paris. After he graduated in 2001, for several years he assisted the Bouroullec brothers, whose studio he regards as his second school. He created his own practice in 2007, where he works on a wide range of projects.
“My creations express my way of seeing design. I try to be synthetic in what I design. I hide nothing and I eliminate everything superfluous. The object has to tell its own story, so that its simplicity is obvious and its function apparent.”

GREAT DESIGN is a project by Margherita Ratti & Marc Sirvin
Margherita Ratti is a communication consultant and cofounder of GREAT DESIGN.
Margherita was born in Milan and lives and works in Paris. Born into a creative family, she graduated with an architecture degree at the Politecnico di Milano and a masters degree in contemporary art at the Sorbonne in Paris. For ten years, Margherita has worked transversally between art, design and architecture. Director from 2005 to 2008 of the Galerie Italienne, specialised in the production of limited design editions, she then conceived LAN Architecture’s communication strategy and developed their cross-media projects (27-theproject.com). Since 2010 she is also co-curator of Momo Galerie (momogalerie.fr) with Romaric Tisserand. Margherita is now collaborating with Bollinger + Grohmann, a German engineering consultancy based in Paris, and is re-immersing herself in the design world with GREAT DESIGN.
Marc Sirvin is an architect.
Born into a Franco-Italian family of architects for four generations, Marc Sirvin studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he also took a close interest in the artistic production. He did his pre-graduation internship in an interior architecture practice in Mexico in 2000-2001, an experience which sensitized him to small-scale design and architectural detail. He then worked for Nicolas Michelin in Paris, for a Chinese architectural practice in Shanghai and for Vallode & Pistre in Shanghai and Beijing. When he returned to Paris he joined the Renzo Piano Building Workshop on a project for a tower in Turin and worked for Manuelle Gautrand in 2008 on the design of a tower at La Défense. He established his own architecture practice (agence-sml.com) in 2009.
